Style Guide for Men: Nailing Eclectic Fashion

Guys are often thought of as non-stylish beings. Stylish Guys are frequently tagged as vain individuals. And this is a way of thinking that you should do away with. Dressing up is not about vanity or such. It is all about self-expression. It is all about projecting your tastes and inner aesthetics. It is one way of attracting like-minded individuals. You may be nonchalant about the way you dress, but there may come a time when you will want to express yourself uniquely. And that’s the time you will pay attention to how you carry yourself, which encompasses a lot of things, such as clothing.

You may have your style right now. And if you are on the safe side, you may be using a lot of neutrals and timeless and minimalistic pieces. These are the foolproof ensembles that will make you stand out regardless of the celebration and occasion. But if you want to take your aesthetics a notch higher, you may want to step out of your comfort zone. You may want to try donning eclectic pieces. After all, this is the time when you will want to look more captivating. Here are some tips when it comes to eclectic dressing.

Go for more prints

For the longest time, you may be using plain colors and solid blocks to express your aesthetic and professional self. You may be drawn to shades, such as white, beige, and grey.  But if you want to make sure that your adventurous side is exposed, you will have to go for print. Your plain Cuban collar shirt may use some palm tree prints. Your oversize shirts may have some prints that are reminiscent of the works of Yayoi Kusama or Takashi Murakami. And who says you cannot have prints on your pants? By all means, try wearing printed pants.

Shake up your dressy side

You may be the type of guy who always favors button-downs over plain shirts and blazers over work jackets. But if you want to have an eclectic flavor, you may shake up your usual goody dressy side. You may be wearing a smart casual look (blazer, button-down, tie, and chino). Instead of using penny loafers or brogues, go for a pair of Doc Martens boots. You will look ruggedly handsome. Instead of the safe navy blue blazers, go for those that have prints. A French work jacket also makes a good substitute.

Wear streetwear

Man wearing streetwear fashion

You may be skimming pages, such as Hypebeast and High Snobiety, and you somehow get an impression that streetwear is very eclectic. So why not emulate them? Replace your usual blazers with an Obermeyer men’s ski jacket. Favor limited-edition kicks and chunky sneakers.

Eclectic dressing is something that men may want to explore, especially if they want to stand out from the crowd and create a great impression. This may be a tricky area to tread, but it is a time where you will have to mix and match until you get the right look.
