Team Forest Camping vs. Team Beach Camping: Which Team Do You Belong?

We now live in a generation where everything is fast-paced. There are always 24 hours to live but it seems not enough for many of us. Clocks tick faster than ever. There is too much to do in so little time. And it always helps to take time out away from everything.

One of the “go-to” activities is camping. It is a weekend away from the city. Roughly 48 hours of not having to read and respond to emails. A few days being off the grid and away from technology. A well-deserved breather.

It is also a chance to recharge, rejuvenate, rest, relax, and forget about the hustle and bustle of the city and focus on other things that matter. Things and people we tend to ignore Mondays to Fridays. And then ignore some more on weekends because you have to party with friends or play golf with the boss.

Balance

Camping provides what is called “work-life balance”. No meetings to attend but a time to roast sausages and marshmallows with the kids. No papers to read and sign but only tents to build. And no rush hours, only time to chop wood, prepare meals for the family, and simply enjoy nature.

And when you talk about camping, there are many options to choose from. There are camping websites you can explore. A tool to know more about campsites, camping equipment, and camping trends. There are also online magazines that provide suggestions. They are all at the touch of your fingertips.

But there are two types of camping that truly stand out. Forest camping and Beach camping. Each one has its own qualities. Each one may have different equipment and some may be the same. But both of them are fun and fulfilling for you and your family.

This article provides insights that can help you choose between one or the other. It will show you its different qualities and the possible equipment you need. But, both of them are fun and worth trying. And will achieve its purpose, a time away from the city and closer to nature.

1. Forest Camping

If you are into trees, wood, rocks, hiking, and being surrounded by birds and animals then this type of camping is for you. This brings you closer to nature. Here, the sound of crickets becomes music to your ears. Birds chirping greets you in the morning.

Driving to the campsite may require either a 4X4 pickup truck or lifted diesel trucks. Both are heavy-duty and perfect for that off-road adventure. Both can carry tents, camping essentials, and heavy-duty camping equipment. Like a stove, grill, propane tank, and portable camping toilet.

You may have hours of pitching your tent, setting up your equipment, and preparing your food. But after that all you see is the surrounding nature, all you hear are the sound of birds and animals. And all you have with you is your family. The perfect time to bond with them.

You can play board games, outdoor games, or teach your kids how to cook. It is also an opportunity to lie down inside your tent and catch up on some well-deserved nap. Or a time to swing yourself on the hammock while reading a book. Not an e-book, but a paperback where you can touch, flip and smell the sweet smell of the pages.

Remember that your goal is to be tech-free and off the grid even for a weekend.

The nighttime is a time to light up that campfire. Perfect for roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, or singing together. And when the lights are out inside your tent, you are sure to have sweet dreams while sleeping on your queen size air bed.

Hiking in the forest

2. Beach Camping

You can still use a pickup or pull-up truck as means of transportation. But since you will be driving on sand then it is advised to use a vehicle with four-wheel drive. This should help you drive through the soft parts of sand. It is also important to reduce tire pressure. It will provide more traction and make it easier for you to maneuver safely across the sand.

Take note that the suggested tire pressure is between 15 and 20 PSI for each tire. But never forget to re-inflate the tires before hitting the highway again. The equipment is mostly the same. Tents, cooking equipment like a stove, grill, portable kitchenware, and propane tank are still essential. And a portable camping toilet is still suggested.

But never forget to bring swimwear, diving equipment, a surfboard, and beach toys. This is the best opportunity to explore underwater. The best time to experience life at the beach. This is also a good time to enjoy the sun and get those tan colors on your skin.

At night, it is good to set up the campfire on the sand. But do not play music or sing songs. Instead, simply enjoy the sound of the waves. You can also enjoy the moonlight and the stars in the sky to light up your campsite.

And when it is time to sleep, try to set up your hammock and sleep outside the tent. It will be a glorious experience to wake up on the beach and see the sunrise. Then brew your coffee and prepare your breakfast. Then you can enjoy breakfast by the beach with your family.

As suggested, both options are perfect for you and your family. It is now your choice if you will try forest camping or beach camping. No one is greater than the other. But both can you give you that well-deserved time for yourself and your family.
